Business trip to Indiana - hoping to have time to detect

I am going to Crawfordsville next week for a 2-week business trip. I am hoping that I'll have some time to do some metal detecting during the weekend. Are there any problems with detecting in parks or is it generally frowned on around there?

I found some old 1876 maps of some older towns in the area. They are pretty small towns today. I'm not sure if it would be better to detect in smaller towns or go to central Indianapolis and detect in parks there. Any advice?

The little towns are good, usually better than the big, because much less trash, if i wasn't 100 mi from Cville I'd hunt with you, good luck
