In the enter of the coil there is a circle looking thing. Thats pretty close. Try taping a coin to a piece of card board and throwing it upside down in a clean area in your yard. That will help you learn to pin point.

Some hunters don't use the center at all but the edge on the front. When you get a beeb, wiggle the coil back an forth while slowly pulling it toward you. When the signal stops, slowly slide it forward and when the signal returns the target is just off the front of the coil.
