Vintage sterling brooch. It has a mark I can't I.D.

I picked this brooch in a thrift store yesterday. I gave $8.95 for it. It has the old trombone pin clasp and I would date it to the 1940's or there abouts. I bought it because it's a very well made piece of jewelry. It says in very small stamp 'Sterling Silver' and has a makers mark in a circle, I just can't identify. It has a two tone gold wash on the silver that transends in to a rhodium plate with diamond looking stones, though under a loop I believe those to be Herkimer diamonds based on how they're cut. I do believe the small cabochon stones are genuine Persian turquoise. This is not just costume jewelry, but a piece made by a skilled jeweler, or so it seems to me. Thank you for any help

i have had similarly designed and constructed pieces before. they are nicely made and usually feature these imitation diamonds in combination with other materials (i have had enamel, pearls, and jade). i would consider them high end costume jewelry. i have owned and seen several that bore spanish hallmarks. i suspect this piece is european and probably spanish or german. even though it is stamped STERLING, it is very doubtful it is an american piece.

Old post of mine is being bummed because I noticed Red Coat has been on a mission in attempts to identify some unsolved posts. This I posted more than 10 years ago now in the jewelry forum, which then as today seems to get little attention. I still have this piece and I'm still wondering who's the maker.
