Apparently i'm not the only on who's hung up the ol' detector due to the summer heat.
It's hotter than an extremely amorous vixen in the burning woods here, if ya know what i mean..
I believe this thread is the least posted site on treasurenet. Surely ya'll are doing something!
I have resorted to looking for native american artifacts on the creeks and rivers..
Any other Kansans with the same illness? Let's get something going on here. This is a truly boring

Ruffneck. I may be old, though I can still swing a coil in this heat! Here are some finds from the other day. I agree, we need to post here more. People on the forum from other states probably think we haven’t invented shoes yet in Kansas! As posted in another forum.

The wife went to an auction today and I wouldn’t/couldn’t go ‘cause I had a new metal detector to play with! I took my new SE to an old fairground that I have hunted with every detector I’ve ever owned. The place is loaded with layers of trash with goodies hidden in there. I detected for about an hour and wasn’t too impressed with new machine as I wasn’t getting any signals over 4 or 5 inches deep. I checked the machine and found that the sensitivity was set at 7 in semi auto? I straitened things out and started getting hits in the 6 to 8 inch range. I ended up with about 10 wheats, 2 mercs and 1 ‘63 rosie. None of the silver was very deep, though it was hidden in heavy trash at about 6 inches. I found the pro coil to be excellent in the heavy trash. I would also say that it is slightly deeper than the 10 x 12 SEF that I have been running for over a year now. 4 of the wheats came from around 9 inches, that’s impressive! I also loved the pinpointing on the newer explorer.
My wife made the best find of the day at the auction! She scored an 1886 atlas of Kansas for 7 bucks! For those of you unfamiliar with this atlas I will tell you a little about it. The state senate mandated that the entire state, by county, be mapped showing improvements to include cities, schools, churches etc. The books contain maps of each county, city, town, schoolhouse, church, park, picnic area, fairgrounds, and illustrations from EACH COUNTY! I have used these before and they are AWESOME research material and worth their weight in gold! Anyway, I got the real McCoy now. The cover is missing, though the rest of the maps and illustrations are complete and in good shape!

Sweet finds Reb! And congrats on your new machine. Soon they'll be nothing left to find in S.E. Ks. Keep me posted on your finds. Glad to see you're still in the swing of things!
You're gonna be tired in the morning after staying up all night staring at that atlas!!
