When I said in an earlier post that the K.G.C. held hands with Abe Lincoln and Mary Todd in seances I wasn't joking. here is the evidence for those that are interested in the pursuit. Henry W. DePuy and his wife Elvira Merrick Depuy were from Nebraska City, Nebraska.

First Nebraska Territorial Legislature - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Merrick County was formed in 1858. It was named for Elvira Merrick, the maiden name of the wife of territorial legislator Henry W. DePuy, who introduced the bill creating the county. When first formed, the county was bounded on the south by the Platte River, and by straight lines on the north, east, and west. It thus included 180 square miles of the Pawnee Reservation, established one year before the county. In 1873, the state legislature removed these reservation lands from the county, leaving it with a jagged northern border from which narrow panhandles extended northward from the northeast and northwest corners. In 1897, the Pawnee Reservation became Nance County.

An impressive array of witnesses backed Nettie's claim that she performed channelings for Lincoln. "The wife of former congressman Daniel E. Somes of Maine, a Lincoln intimate, affirmed them. Mrs. Elvira M. Dupuy, a Washington socialite, was another to support Mrs. (Nettie Colburn) Maynard's account. 'My husband,' she stated flatly, 'was a visitor to seances where Mr. Lincoln was present.'"

Mrs. Dupuy "herself attended a seance in 1862 at the home of a Mr. Laurie in Georgetown, with Mrs. (Mary Todd) Lincoln present and Miss Nettie Colburn the medium."

(Editor's Note: Today the Laurie House is the most haunted in Georgetown. It was built by Rev. James Laurie, who in 1803 constructed the Associated Reformed Church at the corner of H Street and New York Avenue in Washington, D.C. Originally it was a Scottish-Irish Presbyterian Church.

But in the 1850s, Mrs. Cranston Laurie became an ardent Spiritualist, and the church became a mecca for New Agers of the era. Lincoln himself attended this church on a sporadic basis during his presidency.)

According to Mrs. Dupuy, "At this (1862) seance, remarkable statements were made by Miss Colburn, which surprised Mrs. Lincoln to such a degree that she asked that a seance might be given to Mr. Lincoln."

Transcontinental railroad speculations were good in Merrick and Nance counties in Nebraska. Lucky guess?:dontknow: That's the kind of thing that will make you a socialite in Washington D.C.....

by 1855 congress had ten volumes of surveys for the projected rout of the transcontinental railroad.

Just like the saying goes..."You can't out sneak a sneak", Abe and Mary Todd were sneaking off in the night to attend secret occult meetings under the cloak of darkness hiding from the public,s eyes in Washington D.C... However, in reality they were holding hands with the K.G.C... When they thought they were being sneaky, they had already been out-snuck by the K.G.C.. It stands to reason that if the Knights could infiltrate President Lincoln's cabinet and the Judicial system of the U.S.A. on so many levels, then getting a Knight into a secret seance with the President would not have been a problem for them at all.
This also shows without a doubt, that the K.G.C. could have had the President killed many times prior to April of 1865 if they had wanted to. It wasn't the K.G.C. as a whole that wanted Lincoln assassinated in the end, but a certain surviving group at the reins of the secret organization that included Jefferson Davis who were making a final play to finance the rebellion even after Lee's surrender on April 9th of 1865. They needed Lincoln alive and under their control, he was worth much more to them alive than dead. If he was the pure representation of what the K.G.C. despised, "The Black Republican Abolitionist" and he was, and if they could swindle him by any means necessary to unwittingly do their bidding, then they had succeeded in a most fantastic scheme. If their bidding had came from President Lincoln's mouth, then the Black Republican Abolitionists would gulp it down like sarsaparilla and willingly fall prey to the trap of the K.G.C. and O.A.K... When this final plan failed to work for them in April of 1865, Lincoln had signed his own death warrant, he was no good to them anymore if he wouldn't play along blindly. They figured they would try and get it done with Andrew Johnson instead of Lincoln, but as they suspected, the general public was turned against them by the Radical Black Republican Abolitionist that choked on Andrew Johnson's politics like caster oil. In the end the O.A.K. would eventually prevail and buy this country.

Think about it, L.C.

I agree Rebel. When I say they bought this country, I don't mean it as a derogatory remark. I mean they took the battles to other more CIVIL playing fields. The guns were taken out of the picture and business suits became their new uniforms, it had been years of suffering and death for both sides North and South and people were tired of dealing with it day in and day out, bad news was prevalent. The rebellion got a second wind and the leaders mounted a new attack.....a CIVIL attack which = politics and $$$$$$$. It was during this period from 1865 until 1877 or so that moves were made not unlike those of a chess match, and they set up the future of the O.A.K. These guys were good and there were some of the most brilliant minds of their time in the ranks. Did the South loose the Civil War? Maybe round one, but they came on strong in round two and finished well.

OAK "planning" took place at the Jekyll Island Club in Georgia; only the "WEALTHY" could be there... started in 1886, I think. "Google" Jekyll Island Club, GA - wiki...

Yes, a lot of men on that island are on our list. The one I find most interesting is Henry Baldwin Hyde and his son James Hazen Hyde and the The Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States. Now that is a real money maker!!! The O.A.K. were sly, and remained so for generations and their offspring would follow their foot prints. There is a reason the first transcontinental telephone call rang on Jekyll Island Georgia.

Among other developments, the securities market saw the emergence of a vital source of investment capital: life insurance companies.
