There were wiser men than Buckley. I am sure he knew it. Sometimes it's best to just get out of Dodge. As I remember he got to spend a fair amount of time as a ward of the country. He even was a poor spy getting himself arrested. I am sure by 1860 most of his lies had caught up with him. It proved him to be a petty little man.
