Divining rods and all common dowsing devices, are the simplest forms of electroscopes. The bent rod for example is just a variation of Gilbert's straw needle electroscope.
The divining rods are charged with static electricity from the dowser's own body. This static electricity can be seen quite adequately with a simple millivolt meter. This voltage is measured between the hands of the dowser, to measure this voltage accurately a diff amp should be used at the input to the voltmeter, "this eliminates stray signals which are common to both hands". The amount of voltage will vary depending on the person. A good dowser will have a high reading, "above 100 mv" while a poor dowser may read as low as,"0 mv.". For males the right hand is usually a negative polarity, and the left hand is positive in polarity. These polarities are usually reversed in females.

I have learned through the years that when using a LRL in the field for locating treasure caches the strength of the signal line has to do with what kind of signal generator you are using and your mind set.

Each one of them are different. Some use aaa batteries or 9 volt batteries and some used 12 volt batteries. The antennas are different and the grounding systems. Some use one signal and some use a return signal. It is just a matter of learning how that unit works..Art

I keep wondering if your read your own posts because in your first one you stated that men were usually right hand negative polarity and left hand positive polarity and woman were reversed. In your last post you said you were positive on your right side. Are you saying you are left handed and if not what are you saying? The best was to check your sensitivity for dowsing is to lay out a water hose, put in your mind set for what you want your rods to do when you first sense the running water, turn the water on, walk a few ft away from the hose and start waking towards it until you sense the running water.

Take volt meter that can read MV and hold the probes in your hands. It will tell you if you are getting plus or minus voltage..Art
