Just wanted to give some good advise to any newbies going into the Supe's. One of the very best books ever written on the subject is Jack Carlson and Elizabeth Stewart's "Hiker's Guide to the Superstition Wilderness". I always carried a copy when I went into the mountains, even if I was going to a place I had been a dozen times.

I am lucky enough to have a number of their books, which are signed first editions. Two of them are hardback leather bound copies. I believe they may be pretty rare.:dontknow:

In any case, they're a must have publication. You won't meet two finer people than the authors.

Good luck,

I have that book too, and I agree that it's very handy.

Thanks Joe, I`ll check it out before my next hike. The Boy Scout book has a lot of good outdoors stuff in it too!

The places and the stories, along with the maps really are all you need to get started.
