Trying to find parcel lost in USPS Priority International Mail

I recently bought a detector from a dealer in US I live in Australia. I had a tracking number given and was able to track it to the shipping centre in Chicago who showed it as being sent from there to its destination. From there onwards heard no more. That was three weeks ago. Delivery was supposed to be six to ten days. To contact USPS from over seas by email is hopeless, unless you live in the US there is no way of contacting them as they require zip codes etc. what can I do? I have contacted the dealer but he is slow to respond! where do I go from here? Neilo
