    Menifee County excavation?

There was a gentleman in Menifee County that was absolutely positive he had one of Swift's mines on his property. He brought in "experts" and heavy equipment. I saw some rock carvings on his property prior to the "dig" and they were interesting to say the least.

Anyone else know of this gentleman and his excavation? I am not in touch with him anymore but I'm curious if anyone else knew about his effort and wonder if he discovered anything....

Heard about it via secondhand info.

    Re: Menifee County excavation?

Checked into this some last night. The gentleman's name is Vernon Spratt. Apparently his site was more Native American than Swift. His place is now called Spratt's Stone Works or something like that. A couple of serpent mounds were discovered. The mounds are long and winding, built by piling rocks up to height of about 3 feet. Not sure how long they are.

He also discovered a mine/shaft on the property but no word on what might have been mined there.

    Right down your alley Cavers!
