If I understand it right, before 1884 each continent had their own prime meridian. I think the one for the U S was Philadelphia . Here is a bit of an explanation.

The map shown in that link also shows in the bottom right corner meridian from London. Philadelphia would be zero degrees....making EKY in the range of 5-15 degrees W and not 82-85 degrees West measured from London.

That is conformation that the maker of the map used the Greenwich/London Prime Meridian. Yes I knew that our longitude would be in the single or low double digits if the Philly Meridian had been used.
