That's pretty much it as you describe it. ;) And where to do it? Totaly depends on what you want to find, older relics? Modern stuff like bicycles? Check out Magnet Fishing Gear -, there you got like 3 different magnet fishing rigs to look at :)

Lots of bridges where I live. Every time I drive over a bridge I risk looking over to see if it might be a good one. Most of the bridges are taller than the 100 feet of line I have or the water is just too fast.
