I would have found this great stuff sooner if it had been in the magnet fishing forum.

Thanks! It's crazy how many bikes we find, we lost count at 50 this year.

my thought is why are the bikes there in the water. They must be stolen. The other item they find that is strange is shopping carts.??

He is in Europe (Germany I think) A lot of people ride bikes over there. (China and Japan are worse) The only people who ride bikes here in the USA are fitness folks, college kids and those who lost their driver's license.

You are right I am sure they are all stolen. Someone needs to get somewhere he steals the bike then conveniently tosses it in the canal then steals another to get back. I guess they do not sell Kryptonite bike locks in the EU. When I got rid of my daughters college 10 speed I kept the Kryptonite lock.

I'm pretty sure that's a Mauser HSc, not a Walther.

Really neat, thanks for sharing your amazing hunting with us! Sadly, all the bridges in our area are without side walks.

A little update: That is in fact a Mauser HSC, and after a bit of research it turned out to be the WW2 variant (the grips are different on the post-war model). The police has it for now, but they said we will get it back after they do some tests and if it wasn't used for acrime.

Very cool finds! I got to try magnet fishing. We have a small bridge that goes over the water canals near here and as a kid when I walked over this bridge I could see a Harley Davidson on its side down in the water.

Wow good luck getting that out, I hope you have a truck with a winch :)

And careful, it might still be leaking oil like during its lifetime :laughing7:
