If it does prove to be a catalytic converter, they have a small amount valuable metal inside.

As Bowinkles said, a catalytic converter has a small amount of platinum in them. I can't imagine it being worth enough to try and extract.

One way to tell if it is a catalytic converter is to look inside it. If it looks like a ceramic honeycomb, it is likely an converter.

I looked inside a few days ago with a flashlight, its hollow the whole way through. Leading me to believe it is a resonator

Not Necessarily.

Back in the 90's there were Garages around here,
That would take something & Punch them Through when they would go Bad.

One garage I went to, Just put a Straight Pipe in it's Place.

Unfortunately later Midas refused to even Put My car on the lift & Replace it.
Because it was Gone. Had to go to a Local Shop for inspection

Sadly non of those Stations Exist any More.

I heard it is even Very hard to sell them above Board to Junkers these days,
Because of Thefts When platinum was worth twice what Gold Was.

I remember it costing My Dad over a $1000.00 to Have his Replaced
at the Wrong Garage.
was after That I asked around & Found out about the Punching Trick.

That said, The fact The Pipe doesn't Run Straight Through, It may not be a Converter.
