I read through this whole thing. Going back to the original posting(s) all I can say is miss it by an inch, miss it by a mile. Case in point, after Hurricane Sandy there was this one guy who ALWAYS beat me to the best beach around looking for the colonial coppers. I hope he did well. Never met him. Always remembered those same (big) shoe marks in the sand. Anyway, the gov't was trying to rebuild the sand dunes at that time with their dozers. He walked around this little 6" ridge of sand (as I could tell by the tracks). For some reason I decided to take my $329 machine and detect in the area he had just walked by that morning, due to the freshness of the tracks and found two colonial coppers within 6" of his footprints.

Miss it by an inch, miss it by a mile. Nobody around here sells the Cruzer thingie, so I guess I won't be trying one out. There aren't as many local dealers as there used to be, and I like to test drive machines before I buy them. I still use the $329 machine.
