I'm cleaning up a roll-top desk for a guy. I had to take it apart and of course some old papers fell out. The desk came from his aunt in Cañon City Colorado. Apparently this was used in a hospital in the 1930's. Here are the most interesting items.

I erased the names of the patients

The first is a hospital bill from 1941. You can see that prices have increased a little over the decades. For the price of an aspirin, you could stay a whole day!!

The second is a card that the physician fills out and sends to the U.S. Dept of Health to track communicable diseases. This person had Scarlet Fever in 1934.

The last item is a rationing token from WWII. It's made of celulose.

This stuff is more interesting than anything I've dug up this summer.

The token is made of Vulcanized Celluloid.....not cellulose

I have something similar...its a bill for my delivery and 6 or 8 day stay for me and my birth mother at a hospital...delivery room, bed, food, etc.

It looks like an itemized cash register receipt...maybe 2" wide X 4" long.

Its a hoot.

I was cleaning out our old house that our family lived in for 74 yrs and found a hospital bill for me many snows ago.
Hospital room: 7 days @ $3.50/day - $24.50......for a week! Heck today, that would no doubt just pay for an enema if you happened to be unlucky.
