Sanborn maps- New login & password? ***SOLVED***
I was reading over some of the posts here and trying to get in to view some Sanborn maps on their website.
The login: residence password: welcome does not seem to work anymore.
Anyone know where else I could access some Sanborn maps for NC?
Thanks,
MM

Only thing I could find remotely close to Sanborn Maps was this link:
http://sanborn.umi.com/HelpFiles/about.html
Under TERMS OF CONDITIONS: Access to Digital Sanborn Maps, 1867-1970 is available to authorized users at subscribing institutions only. Subscribers are required to sign a User License. Please contact your ProQuest Information and Learning representative.
I wonder if they stopped giving it free??
Here's another link...haven't fully read it... http://www.lib.ncsu.edu/maps/sanborn_maplist.pdf
Sorry I'm not much help...

Re: Sanborn maps- New login & password?
I tried searching for:
HOW TO ACCESS SANBORN MAPS
LOGIN FOR SANBORN MAPS
and a few others I can't remember ... lol
It does seem they changed the password. Most of the links I found were connected to some college / university / library and many said to contact your local library for registeration....dang it!
Hey ... just found this doing a google search for PASSWORD FOR SANBORN MAPS. It's on another forum....there's the answer..dang

Thanks so much.
It looks like I need to make a trip to the library. With gas prices it may be cheaper to order the maps online.

I tried the suggestion from the thread at findmall. It did NOT work for me. Got the Not Authorized page every time...
Anybody else get in?

It appears you have to sign up and pay for access now. I'm not paying for it...I'll just go to the library.
Hope we will see you this weekend coming up!

Re: Sanborn maps- New login & password? ***SOLVED***
It worked for me, too, BUT you can't use the "Save Target As..." technique as before. Now, you click the map you want; then, once it opens in its own window, you right click the map, and select "Save Picture As.." operation. This method doesn't give you the ability to enlarge each map section very much without losing detail. The old way allowed you to download each map section as a PDF file.
But, the main thing is, they're still usable---and free.

Re: Sanborn maps- New login & password? ***SOLVED***
I've had this bookmarked since Feb 07, I followed along with the suggestions here and used the "Sanborn" "Welcome" and it worked. But what seemed strange I went back to this thread, clicked on the actual website and went straight to it with no problem. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.p...c,71167.0.html (go to the reply to RR by BackerPacker)
So, I guess it works either way, regardless it a good old map system.

I think that happened because of cookies. Same thing happened to me. When I cleared my "cookies" I had to log back in again.

I'm not sure if anyone posted this new password. The old one didn't work again, but I was lucky enough to dig this one up.
