    A good research tool............

I have been buying old maps on eBay to use for research during the winter. It is really amazing how many towns that are on these maps that no longer exsist, I mean there really are a lot of them! On one of the older maps I have, I did locate the ghost town that I found last month & posted pictures of, so now I have somewhere to start the research process. Sorry, I will not give the name at this point, the last time I gave out too much info on a hidden park, we arrived to find a bunch of circular plugs cut in the grass where someone had just been in there........But I will keep you all posted with lots of pics! I have also found that these maps make it easy to locate where the old highways (and the rest area's) use to run before they were tore out & replaced with newer ones. Washington isn't a very old state, so it doesn't take many maps to cover it's progress from the first map, up to todays maps. The index list the names of all the towns, and the populations, which makes it easy to track each towns growth, or decline. Anyways, I just thought I would share my ideas with everyone, and help pass the time that our machines sit idle waiting for the spring melt.
