    Just in case this hasn't already been posted. The library of congress online maps section
    http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/gmdhtml/gmdhome.html has really old maps. You can download them. What I do is download enlarge them and copy sections so I can read them easier... Just a little tid bit in case you didn't know. Also almost every county has research sites.....

    Already found lots of towns locally that don't exist anymore that show on the older maps.... not even listed as ghosts....
