    Bird eye map of Greensboro, NC

    This is a map of Greensboro, NC 1851, that I'm using, and cross referencing with a Windows Live Local satellite map.
    I have been able to locate some of the areas with the same existing street names, allot has changed over the years with urban sprawl. The map/website has helped me pinpoint the older areas of town, there may be a few
    of the old homesteads still intact. Most places are paved over, or developed. Just thought I would post the way I'm searching my area. I have not found the hot spot yet though. I have beeb thinking of searching in the middle of a clover leaf intersection ( leaf), It may have been a park at one time.

    Those bird's eye view historic maps are interesting for sure, I've been downloading the corresponding MrSID image from the link on that same map page, this allows me to print it with the use of the free MrSID viewer(note that you have to export the image from the viewer as a graphics file before you can print it).

    history museum in greensboro has a couple decent maps showing properties in guilford county in late 1700s and 1800s...lot of gold mining areas around randleman road/elm street area too....gldhntr
