Well there area a few ways. Your local Library might have history books with maps of Spanish and Indian trails.

People are often surprised that many explorers documented their travels through the new world. A good portion of this work has been translated into English.

Every state has an Archives located in the state capitol. Again you might be surprised what they have. You can not take it out of the Archives but you can copy or photograph it.

A google search of Spanish explorers in Colorado might get something too.

Old USGS maps sometimes mentioned Spanish Mines. Check ebay.

Lastly you can hire a researcher who will do the above things and charge you for it.

Good luck
