actionstriping: A 7.5 minute USGS topo and a 60 minute BLM topo will give you a lot of detail of the area. If you also pick up copies of the 60 minute BLM maps with Land Use info [Surface and Mineral], two separate maps, they'll give you an indication as to whether the surface and mineral rights are private or public and if public, whether they're owned by State, Federal, BLM, USFS, tribal, whatever agency.

The BLM office HQ for New Mexico is located on Sawmill Road in Santa Fe and they'll have all the above on-hand for sale in their bookstore, or Holman's in ABQ will have them or be able to acquire them for you. Holman's is an engineering/surveyor supply store located on one of those roads east of the freeway and parallel to it running south of Paseo Del Norte. Jefferson, maybe. So far as I'm aware they're the largest supply house in Abq for that sort of thing and most likely to have them on hand.

    Good luck
    Jack
