    The scoop from inside Maptech

    Hi Everyone,

I am one of the people behind the historical topo collection hosted at Maptech.com. I do apologize for the site being on-again, off-again for the last couple of months.

As has been indicated elsewhere on this forum, Maptech is being split into smaller business units and sold. Terrain Navigator (and Terrain Navigator Pro) along with our Mapserver and Historical Map hosting service is now the property of someone new (as of today.) I haven't yet been given the green light to disclose who that owner is, but they are well known in the online mapping industry and they look forward to growing Terrain Navigator Pro as well as the various web sites.

It should be noted that the actual historical topo map collection is not a property of Maptech, but that we host it on behalf of an aquantance of mine. I assume he will be on board with this transition.

As for me, I am now an employee of the new company (along with other key people with the Terrain Navigator product), and I am deeply excited that they intend to grow the product line - and may even put some resources into the online historical collection.

    Thanks,

    -Ed Lecuyer

    Hey Ed,
I clicked on the link above and got an alert from my AVG software. There is a Trojan Horse on the site MSN/Games/puppy luv whatever. What's up with that?
I was able to move it to the vault and delete it, better look out, can't be too safe.

We double-checked our servers and could not find any evidence of a virus. We run virus scans daily and are secured behind a myriad of firewalls, etc.

We did, however, discover that some of the historical topos for Connecticut were missing. This has been corrected.
