how do you tell the age of a marble?

You can tell by the manufacture, the type of glass, the design, and by asking an expert like duffy or road dog.

I'm excavating a site now,a specific buried strata,that produced a triangular,brass badge impressed with 'California Chauffeur 1930'. I could safely assume the 6 marbles found next to the badge date from 1930/31.
