GIANT JAR OF MARBLES AT GARAGE SALE

I bought this huge jar of marbles at a sale over the summer for $50. The woman selling they were found by her son in a closet of the house he was renting, they were in an old bowling ball bag which broke when he picked it up. The pictures are of some I took off the top of the jar, there are all different sizes from peewees to shooters. Most are in great shape too. Can anyone tell me the time era for these? See anything that's worth anything or are these all common? I wish I knew more about them and am trying to learn, how about a good site? Thanks.

Nothing real great that I can see so far but they do have some age on them so you could have a sleeper in there. age wise I would say from 30s to 60s. Several differant company's

You've got a combination of the old and the new. The cats eyes,etc say 1950s/60s but the others are older. My guess is the marbles were owned by a kid. After the boy/girl moved out of the parents' house,mom put them all in that big jar. It's easy to spot today's modern marbles. Buy a couple of bags of them at any store that has a display for kids' toys. I advise anyone interested in collecting antique marbles to do this.
