I once was an avid marble collector and over the years finding these treasures produced less and less of a thrill for me. Seems nowdays whatever you want is on eBay, you just need enough money to buy it or wait for what you want to be listed. Thought I would show you a little of what I can get too. I much prefer the workout I get Detecting and the thrill of the hunt.

I gotta ask, did I spy a couple of silver rings being used as marble stands?

The silver Rings are napkin Holders for the large Handmades. I like the idea though!

Super collection! Great colors and I think I see some natural stone mibs in there. Is that big, banded, cream colored one in the back a natural agate sphere? That is a beaut!

An astonishing collection..

Brings back memories. Takes me back to Mildred Morrow school in Tustin,Ca circa 1953. I was seven years old. The school had been in operation for decades. I used to play on the dirt and sparse grass in the schoolyard. The ground was littered with old marbles. Probably thousands of them. You could kick the dirt anywhere and marbles would pop out. I vividly remember holding those marbles up to the sun so I could see into them. And I wondered how in the world adults were able to make these marbles. How did they get the pretty designs and colors inside them? Each marble held it's own small universe of swirling clouds, tiny bubbles, etc. I still have that wonder, that awe. It's why I go out into the desert near my ghost town every day and dig for marbles in the town dump that was shut down in 1950.
