Ok here goes. I'm new, maybe 4 hunts by myself, and I understand the learning curve. I've found quarters that read 40 and beer cans that do the same. How can I learn the difference? This also happens with dimes and more. I know it takes time, just need to be pointed in the right direction. Anyone need a partner/friend?

What machine are you using? I have had luck differentiating larger targets (cans) from smaller targets (coins) by using all metal mode (if available) and sweeping well above the target. Larger targets week permit your coil to reach more height while still "hitting" than shaker targets will. Of course, your machine may have a truck to it to help out. I still dig cans and pull tabs, but not as often. They will foil most machines! Hope my 2 cents helps.

I have the Minelab Safari & the Atpro. I've only used the Safari to this point. Hopefully I can get invited to some group hunts.

Tim

Thank you
