Metal Detecting Berlin, MD

Desperately in need of some peace & quiet, so will be heading to Berlin for a week. Are there any public beaches (besides Ocean City) or parks that allow metal detecting? Can you detect Assateague State Park or anywhere on Isle of Wight? Any help would be appreciated.

Here's an old thread from a few years ago, a user mentions that he has detected Assateague State Park before.

I have no idea about Isle of Wight, MD. Here is the Maryland DNR's page about it, doesn't say anything one way or the other about detecting:

I wouldn't waste time detecting Assateague. The public areas are cleaned up pretty well. With some research there seems to be precious metals but only on the FED land which comes with hefty fines $5000 if caught digging and take your equipment.
