Hi.. I'm looking for someone close to Middleburg area. I've been th,ing since 1976 and have studied CW history in the area.Give me a line and let's discuss a new site to hunt..
I'm Jim. I am new to metal detecting. Hence my whites coinmaster (but I do have a Garrett Pro pointer. I live just North of Branford Florida (south of Lake City).
I see that ya'll have group hunts. I have not been around other detectorist thus far. I am looking for fellowship, friendship, knowledge, and of course metal detecting.
I love history and researching the past. And whether it's a valuable coin or an old piece of scrap giving me a glimpse into the past "I love it!"
I have seen several post of yours several times and it has sparked my interest.
I wanted to let you know what a great job you did with the Florida Hunt 2013. Peggy and I had a great time. I recently got permission to hunt a property in Williston that has a house (now a lawyer's office)
That was built in 1920. Went last Saturday and found a Gillette adjustable safety razor, a Rogers Co.
Of New York cigarette lighter, an old Shick injector razor blade dispenser, and an 1847 Rogers Bros.
silver-plate spoon. ( it's actually from a 1941 design ) I'll send you some pics.
Rockndave
I found some heavy rocks on New Smyrna Beach that read 85 on my detector ..... someone told me they could be ballast rocks from an old ship and that could mean there is an old sunken ship nearby..... I also found a piece of wood with an antique square nail in it on Vero Beach last week. Is it even possible that a piece of wood survived from the old Spanish fleet? There have also been some wrecks that were carrying silver ore. It's all highly interesting.
