Sorry i didnt see the message you left me til after i posted on your post in the Kansas section. , Seems most of the towns with any decent size to them around here had an old horse race track / fairgrounds back in the late 1800's. I hunt in a field here directly on the east side of Holton where one was located but it has been hit hard hard, A guy once lived here in town and metal detected for a living, he pulled over 200 silver coins alone out of this field, I have only hunted it a few times and only found one v nickel but i havent given up, Its a large field and the targets are getting deep., Let me know if the info i posted in the kansas post you made sounds interesting to you or if its a completely seperate fairgrounds. I would be very interested in meeting up with you to hunt sometime . My kids are still to young to bei ntersted and my wife could care less so it gets kind of boring without anyone to compare finds and talk with. Happy hunting, get back with me
