I'm very excited to have discovered a huge part of my ancestry today. A missing piece of the puzzle in my family tree leads me here, and it's a bittersweet discovery. According to 4 generations of Erguetas (I would be the 5th), the first Erguetas to arrive in Bolivia were employed by Spain. They were asked to investigate fraud at the mines in Potosi. My research has uncovered an amazing piece of history in Antonio de Ergueta and I find myself suddenly fascinated with the whole story of his life and the "stamp" he left on the world. As a Spanish teacher, I can't help but be in shock that perhaps my ancestors were responsible for many atrocities while searching for riches - but either way, I am looking for more. Can anyone direct me to a historical biography of this Antonio de Ergueta? Obviously, every time I search, I find coins and other publications related to Potosi - but I want to fill in some more blanks! Thanks for any help!!!
