Hey Dtom. Go ahead and PM me any other questions. PI detectors are definitely the way to go here. Honestly though, compared to many places in the US, the gold is much smaller on average here. I do hear about the rare larger nugget found, but they are far from common. Some multi ouncers are found on some of the old ancient river channels though, but getting to these locations is half the adventure. I highly recommend bringing a variety of coils if you can for various sized targets. I havent had a chance to detect on the coast, but i sure hear a lot of interesting stories. A very large number of Spanish shipwrecks still undiscovered line the coast.

Dont prospect solo here in Ecuador. My story is living proof how dangerous that can be.

I am just organic gardening now. I need a break for awhile and a rest period. My last adventure has put me on edge, so it is definitely break time. Keep in touch though.
