Ps: There are a lot of goldseekers/prospectors in the Yankee Jim canyon area. This is the part in the poem that hints of riches new and old. Gold was discovered there in the past a couple of different times and people are there almost daily panning the river. In fact the "New riches" refers I think to the fact they actually seed the river with gold just for the prospectors and tourists.
