  • Hi IlloisDug ,. My lit' hemitite celt is non-magnetic . but, however ,. an artifact made from magnetite would be . Magnetite[fe304] and hemitite[fe203] may occer in the same deposit,. and any given sample may contain a % of both . And by look'n at them , they look the same ,. well,. to me they do ?
So ,. the "true" answer to the question is ; "NO",. an artifact made from hemitite is by the nature of Fe203 non-magnetic . that said ,. an artifact made from / has some magnetite in it ,. well ,. all bet's are off ?
    hope this helps ,. Joel
Hello - is your hematite celt magnetic? I have one chipped point that is supposidly hematite but it is not magnetic, and I saw a post that said if an artifact is hematite then magnets will stick to it. I'm not sure about this so I though I'd ask you. Thanks!
