I'm a Vet. Not WW2 And I'm not getting into a discussion on war or those involved. It's not why I said that and I refuse to argue or defend either side. I'm a Treasure Hunting Boater and no longer a Warrior and will not be drawn into getting off the reason I said "Thanks" to the returned Vets. It is a welcome home of honor and a prayer for those who didn't come home.
Thanks Again!
Good evening "White Feather: I agree. I was just being facetious. I was at North Island when the attack occurred. Many of my classmates are under the water or in the bowl.
I started at Guadalcanal 8 months later, Aug 11,1942 and continued to the end. As a matter of fact I kinda like the Japanese, exception being the ones trying to kill me. I have an adopted sister Mitsuki Nakamura, who is a full blooded Japanese gal. hmm if'n she wasn't my sister --- sigh Very cute and sexy.
I was on my way back to the states from the Philippines, when the war ended. I missed the celebration sigh.
Thank You Don Jose,
My Dad was in the Pacific on a convoy escort ship. Imagine that, he couldn't swim a stroke and didn't like boats but he thought being in the Navy was what he wanted to do until he went to sea. Anyhow, he stuck it out and stayed with it until he was stationed stateside on board a supply ship that run equipment out to ships at sea.
My hat is off and I salute you for your service and sacrifice in that, the war to end all wars. May you live many long and happy years and always remember your friends left behind at Pearl Harbor. I went there in the 60's twice. The Arizona Memorial is an awesome tribute. I was also there when a family wanted their father buried at sea at the memorial with his shipmates. It was a hard political fight to get permission for the first burial at the memorial but they did it. Since then many sailors have been laid to rest with their shipmates aboard the Arizona. I heartily agree that they have the right to be with their fallen brothers. You have all earned that and many other rights. Thanks Again!
My Dad was at Pearl Harbor on that horrible day. He was in the army at the time and spent the rest of the war skipping from one island to another. Dad had one Silver and two Bronze, but never told us about it. We did not know about them till he passed away in in 98. They were truly the Great Generation. Thanks to all who served.
