for my stepson josh phelps who was killed in a car crash. he was 7 when i married his mom 18 years ago and died at 25. his bio dad gave up parental rights before he was born and they never met. he called me 'dad' right away and he will always be my son.
he had had some failed relationships and talked about finding 'the right one' someday. i told him it was like metal detecting. when you hunt in trashy areas that was what you were likley to find. if you want something of value you need to refine your search to the better areas that haven't been littered and trampled on by everyone else.
he never found that and we lost him this past easter weekend. he knew jesus as his savior and we know god has him. that knowledge and our memories of him are our treasure now. r.i.p. my son, mom & pop love and miss you.
