How cool! Was there an old mine nearby or do you think someone lost it. I've never heard of gold from that area

I had no indications of any old mines in the area, other than the old shacks and outhouse which in itself was very inviting. We worked in and out of the whole area around the buildings but nothing of significance was found. I had the idea to walk and work the path leading from the field to the mountainside and found the nugget off the side of the path. It was about 3 inches down. I suspect that the owner dropped it and just lost it. Ya never know what will pop up. I still have the nugget. A real treasure of the past. A few old coins would have been nice too which is what I was really looking and hoping for.

Beautiful photos and a real nice specimen. How many times do we make an interesting or unusual find when we least expect it? Well, it just goes to show that we'll never find anything if we don't get out and swing that coil.
