This is Dave in Japan,
Love looking for the old Bronze coins and artifacts here, but looks like I will be in the San Diego Area for a year or two before I make it back to Okinawa,
Have been detecting for over 20 years and have a lot of experience on land and in the water and have done great over the years..
I would like to give the nugget hunting a try.. Have done a little panning in Ariz about 15 years back, but that has been about it.
Just need to know if there is any good areas east of San Diego area and that is not too far away, I was stationed in 29 Palms for a year and remember some old abandoned mines there.
Re: Moving to San Diego....Where to go in that area??
Dave, about the closest "serious" nugget hunting areas in So. Cal. ARE east of 29 Palms. Our local 29 Palms prospecing club, "The First Class Miner's Club," has it's own website. When you get back stateside, fire me an email at OphirAU@msn.com, and I'll point you in the right direction. Hope this helps; HH jim (Yucca Valley)
Re: Moving to San Diego....Where to go in that area??
Snee, I do believe these were tombs at one time, but they have been emptied and moved a long time ago. This place is on a military base where people from off base cannot come there..That may be why they were moved a long time ago. They may have also been used by the Japanese military during WWII since I have found some m military stuff in them.
