    Nugget retrieval?

What would you use to get small nuggets while in a river? (scoop) I have only done beach detecting here in Florida but when I move back to Alaska I remember there were a few places I had panned for gold in the river.

    Thanks,

I use a narrow bladed shovel that has the kickplates pointing FORWARDS and, when bringing up a shovelfull, let it move with the stream with it pointed upstream. ..Willy.

I most certainly believe YOU!!! Something I too need to take into consideration for my gold prospecting adventures. Might be nice to take a break from diggin and sluicin' and do a bit of swinging for a change.
Thanks much for this input Grubstake!

Whatever it is, it is valuable. If nothing else for the lesson learned or simply the experience of having been there.

    Re: Nugget retrieval?

Thanks for the info, I like the shovel idea, and I think I am going to probable get an MXT, since I am not sure if I will be in trashy areas or not. But, it would be nice to take it on trips with me and still be able to find coins.
