Which detector do you use for nugget hunting?
I used to use a garret gold stinger, but I had a hard time figuring it out, so I got rid of it.

Which detector do you use for nugget hunting?
Well, I'm definately staying away from the Gold Stinger. It isn't very popular and I don't know of anyone else that has one. A friend of mine has a Minelab Eureka. I'm curious to find out if anyone else has one.

Which detector do you use for nugget hunting?
Being a professional nugget hunter for the last 20 years, I've used just about every "gold machine" ever made by Fisher, Garrett, Minelabs, Tesoro, and White's. Best of the lot, by far, has been the chest mount version of the GMT. Second best: the MXT. HH Jim

How does the Falcon work? Do you walk around with it, or do you get down on your hands and knees and probe the ground?

Which detector do you use for nugget hunting?
Thanks for the info on the Falcon, Megan. So far it looks like the Whites brand is the most popular. Anymore nugget hunters on this forum?

So far all I have used mine (Falcon) for is checking rock samples that I have aquired from various different prospects. The picture Megan has posted is exactly like the one that I have and I got it through Allan. The one drawback to this nifty little machine is it's very short range. Like maybe 1 inch one a pinhead sized nugget. I DO NOT feel that I wasted the $325 that I paid for it. Fred

Fred, what is the depth range like on that thing? For larger than pinhead sized nuggets.

Which detector do yuou use for nugget hunting?
I have used a White's VSAT for the past 5 years. This year I got a good deal on a Minelab GP Ext. and having a ball with it. Still have my VSAT and will never part with it as I have many dear memories with it.

I use an MXT
Bought it for prospecting up in Alaska. Found it to be very capable, though it was hampered by the lack of coils. I was using the 5x10" DD & was finding bits of gold down to 1/2 grain. Depth was decent given the coil size and the mineralization (84-88). Thinking about getting the Infinium for B.C. but might just get one of the new DD coils from Kellyco & see how it works out. I've also used a number of other machines in the past ( LST, Goldstrike, XT18000, Goldbug, Gold Stinger) & have found the MXT to be the best of the lot.

Blazen; I just now saw your question about the Falcon. I am not sure of it's depth capabilities but I suspect that it isn't much over a couple of inches(like 2 or 3). Fred

Hey there Fred!
Howzit goin'? Don't know how that lousy smiley ended up in my post..can't stand the nasty things. I'm wondering about the weather; buddy of mine just called & wants to prospect. Was thinking about some areas on the Island. Might be a bit late in the season.. better off down in Az. or Nm. Whaddya think of the nugget? Sold everything else & brought this one back for show'n'tell. It's abt. 1oz & looks mighty purty around my neck. Was thinking that some areas around the Tulameen might have some comparable gold. Think I'll check it out next spring.
