Was going river placer mining in Redding. Thanks for the tips Neo Tokyo! A huge change in plans found me in Sierra county gold country instead. Armed with all my remote prospecting gear I didn't mind beeping some former hard rock mined areas. I had a backpack sluice and a nice creek but decided to beep for hot ore and relics instead. Came across some nice square spikes and nails and a couple rocks for my rock garden .

Thanks Jim! I was at 7000 ft and the weather was amazing! 30 degrees cooler than the valley at 100 degrees
