I found this last week on the beaches of North Carolina, Pretty sure it's gold but my tester won't be here till Friday. Never heard of anyone finding a nugget on the beach of OBX but was hoping yall could tell me if it was?

Hope it is gold ;) That'd be a pretty darn cool find.

Copper, bronze and similar metals containing copper would be greenish... That's gold :)

Honestly, I'd weigh it... Then I'd go back to that beach with a gold detector :)

Do you have a photo with better white balance and more saturation?
On my computer it looks like lead.

I hope its gold or platinum though. :)

99% sure it's not lead... As a bullet caster and machinist, I have seen lots and lots of metal. Worst case scenario, you found a recently melted low-copper content piece... Which is possible on the beach, but it doesn't have the brass/broze characteristics. But I'm also not a rocket-surgeon... So what do I know

If it's a nugget it could be from a sunken pirate ship or a ship returning from the California gold fields that didn't make it.....but the edges look rough for being in the water for any period of time.

It's the second nugget I've heard of being found on the beach. I don't see why they can't be there :3

I'm sure we can find gold literally anywhere. I mean, at one time, lake bonneville was covering a massive chunk of the U.S... I'm sure it had one hell of a river pushing material pretty far :3

put a torch to it, if it melts then its lead like I said.
If it tarnishes then it may be silver.
If it doesn't tarnish then it could be platinum.
