    Great post !! I enjoyed reading it. I live in North Carolina and my dad always said I could find as much gold here as anywhere !

    Your dad is correct! NC has as much as anywhere! Gold was first discovered in this country in NC ( Reid Gold Mine ).

    the U.S. mint was located in N.C. just to handle the gold being mined here until 1848
