Yeah they were off that's why they're here,any ideas???There is an old looking camp up the ways alittle.I thought maybe some funky melts from there.Give some ideas,anything would be appreciated.Thanks

So the one I figured might break, got smacked a bunch with a hammer it just flattened out some.They sounded really nice under detector,alot better then the trash I was finding in the area.They aren't magnetic,alot ny ways might post in another section.cheers

Looks like melted aluminum soft drink or beer cans...

They do have value at container salvage yards. Get all you can...pardon the pun.

Worth maybe $0.60 to $0.90 per lb.

Sure more profitable than coming home with empty pockets.

Hope its gold....does look like it in the second picture (single smashed piece)....aluminum sounds like gold on a detector. How did you try to melt it? You would need above 1200 degrees for aluminum.....lead 620...... a map torch will hit 2020 degrees or so, so it is hot enough.

Ended up being sterling silver.So I talked to the owners of the ranch and they said a old timer used to make conchos up there and sent this pic back.Said that's all they have of some of his work.Died in the 1920s.So thanks to everyone that replied.

Glad ya went, a cabin fire usually did that type of deed. Free is always best, did they offer up any cash?? Nitric would have told you silver turning it black, some iodates also. GREAT find anyhow -cool one-John
