Pics of what you drive around in while in the gold fields.

Just out of pure curiosity, what do you drive around in when out in the desert or mountains looking for gold. I know most are probably using an atv but I'm curious about the 4wd pickups, crossovers and the like.

30 gallons of water, full galley, solar, 4 wheel disk, rooftop tent with vestibule, racks for tools, spares and reading materials for the honey bucket.
Have installed a personal record of 16 windshields too !

What is it with these troopers lately? This is the second one in the last month that I've seen that had 300k on it.
The other one was an 86 model I believe. Nice!

I sold my 86 Honda CT110 trail bike after using it for the last three yrs for detecting, and bought a 2008 Rhino Yamaha 700 4x4, been working this over thru the winter months, have added a Terra 3500 lb winch, half windshield, new Bajacross tires, gun rack for detector, should have it all setup by June for a week long trip into the Nevada outback detecting. Should be a tad bit safer for a 65 yr old and will actually be much faster getting around in. Looking forward to nugget hunting this summer.

Enjoyed seeing all the rides in this post. Mine is a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 cummins diesel 12 valve. Mechanically sound, very tight with no rattles but after 20 years had
body rust issues. Had the front fenders, doors, box sides and tailgate replaced. Just like a new truck now which will be with me forever......

Dont let the size fool you it has plenty of power and low end torque.
Comes stock with a torque converter instead of a centrifical clutch. Top speed out of the box 40 mph+

Ha ha, I haven even seen a dredge since I left Indiana.
But since you brought it up I'm planning on connecting a folding trailer/wagon to it to haul my non dredge equipment
Will use a universal joint to help keep it upright on rough hilly terrain (learned that from having an articulating hitch on my military trailer for my jeep)


Out here a mini bike has to be titled and registered and meet compliance for off road use. Still waiting for the title to be sent from the dealer so I can title and license it.

I'm also ordering other goodies (rear view mirror, horn, combination brake light, tail light, license plate light, battery) to make it street legal so I can legally travel short distances on road between off road areas. Almost forgot, liability insurance is required as well.

Fortunately I already had a Motorcycle operators license that I transferred to my AZ drivers license or I would have needed one of those too.

In AZ there are three different fees depending on whether its licensed for: off road only, on and off road, or just on road only. Unlike Indiana where there are no such requirements, fees or licensing for a mini bike and can be ridden anywhere except the interstate.

Ok here it is with the wagon hooked up. The wagon is connected to the mini bike with a 1/2" drive universal joint.
I was surprised that the wagon is rated at 225 lbs capacity.
Cant wait to try it in the desert and see how it works out with the skinny wheels........








I can always replace them with harbor freight specials

No longer do the dig, classify, sluice, pan stuff but when I did I've used Trackzilla to get me out to the gold in winter. Now only detect gold in warm summer weather and use an older quad with rubber tires...works for me!

It is a 77. I’ve had it for 30 years and just recently swapped in a new engine/transmission and driving it again after it sat for 14 years.
