Of these two detectors which would you choose for gold prospecting with a detector and WHY?? These are the two I have narrowed it down to. The MXT is 3 months old with stock coil it comes with new used 2 times. I can get it for about the same price as the AT GOLD is new. I want one that will do all metal and gold. Feedback greatly appreciated or other suggestions.
Thanks

Bill

Astro Nut, I am not a prospector, but a relic Hunter here in Georgia. I use the MXT All Pro and love it. What I can tell you is that the MXT is an all around metal detector. The MXT has settings for coin/jewlry, relics, and prospecting. I can honestly say that I have found relics in areas beat to death by many hunters using a variety of different detectors, I being one of them. JMHO If you could get the MXT for the same price as the AT Gold, I believe I'd personally go with the MXT. Best of Luck to you whatever your decision.0

The MXT and DFX machines are nice machines to use for prospecting. Good luck.

MXT is decent. you will hit the gold fields and be a little disaponted.

I would go for a gold bug pro over either of those.

The pro has some of the features of the MXT that are nice to have.

Never been impressed with any of the AT machines

There's an at gold on Denver craigs list for $300. Ever since the release of the at max, the other two are bargains on the used market.

I would go with the AT gold. First off the machine does exactly what it was designed to do and on the plus side it's submersible up to 10' which is badazz.
Where I live we have lots of rivers rich in history so the waterproof Detector opens up more doors.
