First Detecting Gold!!! (GM1000)

I literally took notes from all of your suggestions and hit the creek and this made my whole weekend! I started the unit pointed at some nearby power lines, then set the sensitivity to 6, and put it in deep all metal mode and pumped the coil 3 times. I found I needed to reduce the sensitivity to 4, which seemed perfect for this ground. Not huge, but big enough!

Lol...I actually never hated it, but was definitely frustrated. This last time I went out I was a lot more confident after getting some pointers from everyone, so I think the confidence helped and a little luck too. I also found a couple oldd horseshoes and a bunch of boot tacs and .22 casings.

Yeah, good job! I've spent about 15-20 hours detecting known nugget areas, hiking far and wide with a Garrett ATX and haven't found a single nugget with it. I've found plenty of gold panning before, but no nuggets with the detector. Found a small 14k earing, and a bunch of junk metal, sinkers, bullets, pull tabs, etc.
