    New To Nugget Hunting/Detecting

Just to introduce myself real quick, my name is Paul, I am 16 years old and from SoCal (Live in Bullhead City, Az on most weekends). Ive done some panning and worked a sluice a few times in the search for gold and have decided to give nugget detecting a try. I bought a GoldBug2 as a starter detector and have a few questions.

Where can I go to find out about known gold bearing areas around me (Lancaster, Ca & Bullhead City, Az)?

Was me buying the GoldBug2 a good choice for just starting off or should I have gotten something else?

Any good advice/websites for a newbie to the hobby?

    Thanks!

    -Paul

The only thing about the Gold Bug is you have to ground balance it alot.
The best words of advice I can give you are .Know the manual, dig every target,go slow, Try to find someone to show you the ropes, keep the coil as close to the ground as you can and above all don't give up they will come!!!!!

    Have fun,Matt

Paul, check the bigger local libraries in the states and counties involved in your search, also university libraries in those areas. Each county in Ca. has a mines and mineral report as well as numerous bulletins issued over the past 130 years or so.Any BLM office should be able to direct you to lot's of info.Your county assesors office will have maps showing mining claims and BLM ground.Much easier to find gold where it's been found before..........Dave

If you are in bullhead on the 19th oct, come up to gold basin, nugettshooters is having an outing. go to nugettshooter forum for more info.
I am a newbee at nugetts and I bought a goldbug2. some of the people said plenty of help to be had on these machines.
This outing should be a hoot.
    hope to see ya there!

Paul, The Gold Bug 2 is an excellent nugget machine. I have one but use my White’s most of the time. I live in Lancaster and belong to the AV Treasure Hunters Society. We have 2 claims out near Randsburg. Here is a link to where you can get more info on the club. Guest are always welcome.
