Took a trip over to Helena Fri. and Sat. and scrounged up these 7 pieces. Found 8 but lost one little dink so only 7 in the pic. Been having a slow season until these and the big one is my biggest ever.....

Beautiful! We dont get to see nice Montana nuggets too often. What type of deposit did you find them in? Dry diggins or creek?

Looks like creek gold or gold that was washed out locally by glacier melt.

If I post on the "Metal Detecting for Gold" forum you can be assured I found it all with the Goldmonster. If not...I'll surely say so. So I got the gold with the monster in what I believe to be hydraulic tailings...…..

Thanks for the kind words guys.....the big one was quite a thrill for me!!!!

Incredible gold finds, and the big one is a genuine beauty!

I'm sure it took a lot of dedication and patience to find those pieces.

Congratulations and thanks for the pictures.

All the best,

Lanny

There's plenty of gold still there to be found. One might want to research the "underground channel of gold." Some believe an old river runs under Helena and holds much gold.

Would that be a ancient channel (dinosaur times?)?

I read somewhere that there was an underground cave system that had a stream running through it. It is believed to have possibly caved in due an earthquake in the Helena area. It is said that this cave system runs right under the old main business street in Helena. I heard that there are some stories that some business owners have secretly dug under their businesses.

Now that sounds like a cool adventure, to try to find a place like that!

Thanks for a bit of the background on the legend.

All the best,
