I am hoping someone might be able to steer me in the right direction. I am looking to purchase a gpx 5000. Every dealer i have spoke with is out and it looks like minelab is putting all there efforts into the 6000. Thanks Mike

All the dealers i have had contact with today have said minelab is putting all there efforts into the 6000. And couldn't give a time frame as to when a 5000 will even be available. Hopefully someone on here knows someone with a 5000 for sale.

Why the 5000.
For the bigger copper nuggets in the u/p, 1/2 ounce on up. I don't think i would get a 5000 for copper nuggets only.
myself i would get one of the older minelab pulse induction detectors GP Extreme, GP 3000, GP 3500, GPX 4000
with an 18-inch coil or bigger would do the trick nicely, at a lot less cost.
Unless you might want to use it for gold too, usually a much smaller target, then i would get one of the newer minelab
pulse induction detectors. 5000, 7000, 6000.
One problem with the older ones is the battery need to be replaced.
I put a new battery in my GP Extreme, the dome brick type with headphone jack. $24 bucks and some easy soldering, or you could go to batteriesplus
and they will charge about 75 to do it.
Would love to see some of your copper nuggets. Post em if you can.

Soon as the ground thaws enough to dig i will post a few pics. The small hand size pieces are like flys they are everywhere if ya know where to look. Its the big ones that I'm after. Look up the worlds largest float copper 28 tons A buddy of mine found it.
